Executive Director Position
Role:
The Mt. Desert Festival of Chamber Music is seeking a part-time Executive Director to manage all administrative aspects of its summer music festival. If you would enjoy running a small not-for-profit, this is the role for you! A love of classical music is a plus, but not a requirement.
Mission:
- Concerts:Five world-class chamber music concerts every Tuesday, mid-July through August.
- Location:Neighborhood House, Northeast Harbor, ME – intimate setting with excellent acoustics.
- Musicians:Primarily string quartets, hired by the Music Director.
Responsibilities:
- Concert Production:
- Coordinate with the Music Director and musicians.
- Arrange venue logistics, ticket sales, and on-site post-concert dinners for musicians.
- Ticket Sales & Marketing:
- Manage subscriber and at-the-door ticket sales.
- Produce flyers, trifold and program booklet.
- Secure local advertising revenue.
- Maintain and update website.
- Create content for social media.
- Donor Relations & Development:
- Oversee donations which are 2/3 of the budget; organization is in a strong position financially.
- Collaborate with the Development Committee on donor outreach and acknowledgments.
- Financial Management:
- Use QuickBooks Online to manage income, expenses, and accounts.
- Prepare budgets, reports, and tax data in collaboration with the accountant.
Qualifications:
- Strong administrative, organizational, and people skills.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Online (or willingness to learn).
- Computer proficiency.
- Local presence required during July and August; remote work possible otherwise.
Additional Details:
- Part-time position. Activity peaks during the summer but continues at a lower level year-round.
- Compensation based on experience.
- An assistant to handle box office and other tasks can be hired.
